Cheery Centre

The Cheery children education Centre was founded in 2009 and it’s situated in the heart of the Kibera slums in Nairobi Kenya. There are approx. 2.5 million slum dwellers in about 200 settlements in Nairobi the capital and largest city in Kenya representing 60% of the Nairobi population, occupying about 6% of the land. Kibera houses almost 1 Million of these people making it the biggest slum in Africa and one of the biggest in the world.

The sole purpose of the Centre is to serve children from vulnerable families in Kenya especially those living in Kibera slum in Nairobi. It’s just not simply a Centre for those forgotten, orphaned, abused, abandoned and hungry children but a place where character is nurtured and hope given to these hopeless children.

We espouse the fact that Education is the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another and it’s the focus of CCEC and it remains one of our goals to remain true to the fact that quality and affordable access to education is more than a luxury; it is a responsibility that the society owes to itself.

Specific objectives will be supported by a focus on six key areas:

- Establish a well-equipped education centre with the relevant technology to promote a competitive edge in a fast paced globalizing world

- Enhanced Outreach, Evangelism and Discipleship to raise and nurture God fearing and responsible and well-rounded students

- Provide material and financial support to orphans and vulnerable children

- Provision of affordable quality education

- Skills training for children and the youth and promote enhanced organizational capacity, and building a strong financial resource base

- Establish a sustainable feeding program for the CCEC

We are very pleased to introduce to you the Bliss Women and Children Center, a project that is helping to improve the lives of hundreds of women and children in Keptembwo, Nakuru, Kenya. Since 2004, we have been accomplishing our goal of empowering some of Nakuru’s most vulnerable people through a variety of programs. These include the following:

- Handicraft and Sewing program – this project provides training and a location where women can put their skills into practice;

- Micro credit programme – Our micro credit project aims to alleviate poverty and empower women, by allowing them to further their small-scale initiatives.

- Orphan Programme – This programme involves meeting the basic needs of more than 80 children who are orphaned or living in extreme poverty. It involves providing basic necessities such as clothing, shoes, medical care, housing and food.

- Orphan Programme – This programme involves meeting the basic needs of more than 80 children who are orphaned or living in extreme poverty. It involves providing basic necessities such as clothing, shoes, medical care, housing and food.

- Counselling Programme – Women and children who previously abused drugs or have been displaced receive counseling, rehabilitation and advice through this initiative.

- HIV/AIDS Programme - This programme works with the infected and the affected to mitigate the effects it has on individuals, families and the local communities. The programme aims to equip women, offer counseling, testing and home-based care.

- Feeding Programme - The children involved in this programme receive a hot breakfast and hot lunch each day.

We have been very successful. Every day, more than 80 children and over a hundred women benefit from our projects. But we can’t do it alone – and that’s where you come in. In order to continue our work, we need your support. We are specifically looking for :

- Child sponsorship – this is your opportunity to change one child’s life, as sponsorship provides education, clothing, shoes and food.

- In-kind donations – we are looking for a wide variety of in-kind donations, ranging from clothes and mattresses to IT and cooking equipment.

- Financial support – You can make a one-time or ongoing donation.

Your assistance will be appreciated and will help us to continue our efforts.
